Between May 22-24, a delegation of 12 companies (VBMS/Boskalis, Cape Holland, Damen Shipyards, ECN, Huisman Equipment, Ice Vibro, MME Group, MPI-Offshore, Royal IHC, Safeway, Tideway and Trelleborg Ridderkerk) visited South China to learn more about offshore wind developments in the provinces of Guangdong and Fujian. The mission was led by The Netherlands Enterprise Agency RVO and organized by HHWE in close cooperation with The Netherlands Consulate General in Guangzhou.
According to Mr Arjen Schutten, Managing Director of HHWE, the preliminary outcome of this trade mission is very positive. “The Netherlands has knowledge and expertise that China can use, for example, when it comes to the installation and operation & maintenance of offshore wind farms. In the near future there will be results from this mission, because the participating companies were brought in contact with Chinese offshore wind companies, knowledge institutions and local government in Zhuhai, Guangdong and Fuzhou”.
Mr Henk van Elburg from RVO and delegation leader, is also positive about the trade mission to South China. According to Mr van Elburg, “Chinese government officials were very interested in the new offshore wind policy of The Netherlands.” Mr van Elburg is convinced that “the two countries will even work more closely together in the years to come.”
